Frequently Asked Questions...
Will Supplements Cure or Prevent Disease?
The FDA does not allow any supplement company to make claims that supplements do cure and/or prevent disease. However common sense should prevail. 150 years ago sailors the world over were developing scurvy (a vitamin C deficiency disease) and dying. Eventually it was found that by taking lemons, lime juice, or any citrus (a huge source of vitamin C) on voyages, scurvy could be prevented. Reluctantly, the medical world conceded that the human body needed vitamin C to live. As time progressed, the medical world eventually acknowledged that other vitamins and minerals were not only good for, but also necessary for the human body to thrive. Throughout medical history, what is "scoffed" at the present is often acknowledged later to be vital and necessary.Every cell of our body is made up of nutrients including 16 vitamins, 70 minerals and trace minerals, 12 amino acids and 3 essential fatty acids. When we are receiving all these nutrients we can prevent and reverse deficiency disease. We suffer from all kinds of deficiency diseases: heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, lupus, Crohn's, and psoriasis - and the list goes on. These aren't diseases we "catch"; they are diseases we develop due to vitamin, mineral, amino acid, and fatty acid deficiencies. That's why they are called deficiency diseases.
There are diseases you can catch due to pathogens such as bacteria, germs, virus and parasites. The best way to avoid these kinds of disorders is to keep our immune systems in peak condition. When our bodies have the nutrients necessary for good cellular health then our immune system will also be healthy and able to protect us from pathogens.
I Eat Healthy, Why Should I Take a Supplement?
Crop Nutrient LossesDecades of agriculture have overworked and depleted the soil of nutrients. Senate Document 264 written in 1936 found, after extensive testing of the farmlands in the U.S., that the top soils were 86% depleted of the minerals necessary for maintenance of optimum health. Plants produce vitamins but must take minerals from the soil. We were warned that if we didn't replace the minerals in our soils, deficiency diseases would become epidemic over the next 3 generations. Instead of replacing all 70 minerals necessary for good health, scientists found that by adding only three, phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium (fertilizer) they could grow bigger and hardier crops. Though it is cheaper to grow plants this way it leaves us deficient of the minerals necessary to repair and replace the cells for optimal health.
Nutrient Variance
There are significant differences between one fruit or vegetable and another. One tomato can have 10 times the nutritional value of another.
Environmental Factors
Herbicides and pesticides are used on crops, leaving them with low nutritional value. Take away the pesticides and herbicides and even organic produce is only as nutritious as the soil it's grown in.
Poor Digestion
Eating too much, too little, or too fast can cause indigestion which in turn reduces absorption of vitamins and minerals.
Over-Cooking
Easily destroys valuable nutrients.
Microwave
Studies suggest cooking with microwaves alters the nutritional structure of foods.
Food Storage
Length of storage & freezing deplete the nutritional value of foods.
Food Selection
Eating a limited range of different food groups results in nutrient deficiencies.
Food Omission
Allergies to foods, dieting, and poorly designed vegetarian diets omit significant dietary sources of nutrients.
Antibiotics & Chemotherapy
Both of these interfere with the intake of essential nutrients.
Poor Lifestyle Habits
Smoking, alcohol, and caffeine can inhibit the absorption of vitamins and minerals and/or accelerate the loss of nutrients.
Stress
Whether physical or emotional, can increase the body's requirements of vitamins and minerals.
Balance
Each vitamin and mineral level in the body has an effect on others, so if one is out of balance (missing), all are adversely affected. With antioxidants, one is not nearly as effective as several combined. Each antioxidant greatly enhances the benefits of the others.
Why are Some Nutritional Supplements Very Cheap While Others are Very Expensive?
Some supplement companies are more concerned with the bottom line than they are with the quality and quantity of the nutrients in their formulations. The old saying, "You get what you pay for" is very true in the supplement industry. Because there are limited regulations put on supplements many manufactures will add fillers and inert ingredients in order to bring the milligram of each capsule or tablet up to what the label says. Other companies will use the cheapest form of an ingredient. Many supplements have limited ingredients. Many supplements have too much of too few ingredients. Few supplements are tailored to a very specific purpose. Why Accept Paypal Only?
We do supplements. We don't want to do financials. Our logic is that Paypal is a multi-billion dollar company familiar to all with a stellar reputation for efficiency, effectiveness, privacy, and security. We don't want to know your financial information. You pay through Paypal, Paypal pays us. Simple. One less person/company that has your information in this age of identity theft in our opinion is good.
Why No Iron?
While iron is necessary in women's bodies and women often take iron supplements, iron levels can be radically different from woman to woman. While we believe BE to be a total comprehensive wellness supplement, iron has enough controversial properties that we decided it is the one nutrient that should be left up to an individual on a situation by situation basis. One iron level is not proper for women. Additionally, iron is one of the elements that interfere with the absorption of certain medications and other vitamins/minerals. Iron supplements are best discussed with your health care provider. Also, an oversupply of iron is potentially harmful. What is the Suggested Daily Amount of BE?
The recommended daily amounts are 2 capsules daily for women in good health, 4 capsules daily for women who are pre-disposed to cancer or who are cancer survivors, and 6 capsules daily for our women warriors currently battling cancer. Why BE vs. a Multi-Vitamin?
There are numerous reasons listed in detail on the website and the downloadable brochure. In a nutshell, BE is engineered for women. It's engineered for anti-cancer concerns. It has the right amounts of more nutrients. It is comprehensive. It's a strong value. It's easier and less expensive to take versus a multi-vitamin and 15+ additional supplements.Where are You Located?
